When We Were Young: Children’s Clothing from the 1850s-1950s – Now through Mid-August
The Chagrin History Center’s new exhibit “When We Were Young: Children’s Clothing from the 1850s-1950s” is now on exhibit through mid-August!
Taking advantage of our extensive textiles collection, visitors will take a walk through time as they view how children were dressed over a 100 year old period. For much of the mid-to late-nineteenth century, children were dressed as miniature adults. But through the first half of the twentieth century, children’s clothing began to reflect not only their age, but the changing roles of children in society. Visitors will see how children dressed for playtime, school, life at home, etc. We even have a beautiful collection of Baptismal dresses on display. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about the lives of Chagrin Falls’ littlest citizens.
