Monday November 4, 6:00pm: Annual Members Meeting at The Federated Church. The Annual Members Meeting and Potluck will be on Monday, November 4th at 6pm at Federated Church on Bell Street. RSVP to admin@chagrinhistory.org or 440-247-4695. Please let us know if you are bringing a side dish or appetizer. The History Center will provide the meat and the dessert. Please look over the September/October newsletter, The Exponent, and come prepared to vote on the two new members of our Board of Trustees. Their bios are in the newsletter.
Saturday, December 7, 1:00-3:00pm: Holiday Open House Join us at the Chagrin History Center (87 E. Washington St.) for our Annual Holiday Open House! This year, we are celebrating a vintage holiday season, highlighting what holidays were like in the 1940s. This family friendly event is free to the public. There will be refreshments served, and we ask our members to please bring a cookie plate or dessert to share. Saturday October 12 & Sunday October 13, 3:30, 4:00, and 4:30pm: Spirits Alive! A Tour of Evergreen Hill Cemetery Join us for our seventh annual Spirits Alive! Evergreen Hill Cemetery tour. You will be guided to several graves and meet with spirits in the cemetery who will tell you their story. While this is an annual event, the spirits who come out to talk to you are different each year. This year you will hear stories from well-known Chagrin residents and some who had important roles in the early years of the Chagrin Falls Historical Society! Buy tickets here
Saturday, September 21, 6:00pm – The Diamond Gala: An Event to Benefit Chagrin History Center
Help us celebrate our Diamond Anniversary, 75 years collecting and preserving Chagrin Falls history! We are incredibly grateful to serve the Chagrin Falls community every day. The Chagrin History Center plays a vital role in village life and serves the Chagrin Valley through education and community outreach. We rely on your generosity and support!
This fundraiser will be held at the beautiful Crystal Brook Farm at 19000 Snyder Rd. in Bainbridge Township and will feature Nomad Catering, The Swamp Boogie Band, basket raffles, open bar, and more! Click here for ticket information.

The Chagrin History Center is proud to present the Historic Chagrin Falls Home and Garden Tour on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10am-5pm. Our Gold Sponsor is Hemlock Landscapes.
We have five fabulous homes lined up and a top floor apartment on N. Main St., the historic meeting place of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F). Advanced tickets are $25 and day of the tour are $30. This year, we are offering a ticket + boxed lunch option with Lemon Falls Café/Marketplace! This ticket is $45 and includes your admission and boxed lunch. See below for more information on the Boxed Lunch ticket. Monday, March 11, 6pm – Interurban Railway History – SOLD OUT
In 1897, the Cleveland and Chagrin Falls Electric Railway, known as the Interurban, was established. As part of the electric railway system that connected to Cleveland, the Interurban provided ease of travel for Chagrin Falls residents and commuters, though the rides weren’t always smooth sailing. Join Chagrin History Center volunteer, Scott Hageman, as he presents the history of the Interurban Railway. This event is free, light refreshments will be served. Sunday, March 3, 2pm – Chagrin Falls through the eyes of Bill Watterson – Join Historian John Bourisseau as looks into Bill Watterson’s early works in the Chagrin Valley Herald from 1976-1979 covering topics still relevant to Chagrin today- parking, bridge construction, and more! This program will be held at Township Hall, 83 N. Main St., Chagrin Falls. This event is free to the public, light refreshments will be served. Saturday, February 24, 11-3pm – Pioneer Day – Have you ever wondered what life was like in the 1800s? Want to learn a new crafting skill? This free, family friendly event gives visitors the opportunity to learn about pioneer life in early Chagrin! We will feature early arts and crafts, such as weaving, spinning, quilting, knitting, butter churning, and live Blacksmith demonstrations!
Saturday, January 20, 2-4pm – John Bourisseau Appreciation Party – Join us as we celebrate John Bourisseau’s 14 years as President of the Board of Trustees! John is stepped down as President this year, but is continuing his role as Historian for Chagrin History Center! Light refreshments will be served.

Saturday, April 1, 11am-2pm– Safety First! Join us at the Historical Society for an event with the Chagrin Valley Fire Dept. and Chagrin Falls Police department. This will be an open house but with set times for specific presentations. Follow us on social media for up to date information.
Sunday, April 23, 2023- 2:00pm- In Their Footsteps with Sandra Milton Sandra traced her ancestors who were slaves in North Carolina. She will talk about her journey to find them through research and visiting the plantation. RSVP 440.247.4695

Sunday, October 29, 2023- 2pm- Spirits Alive! Virtual Evergreen Hill Cemetery Tour. Watch a video recording of the Spirits Alive! 2023 presentation, courtesy of Drone Ohio, in the Bo Burr Community Room at the Chagrin Falls Historical Society at 87 E. Washington St. This presentation is ideal for people who have mobility issues and are worried about walking through the cemetery. Tickets are $10. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP Required.
