The Chagrin Falls Historical Society & Museum is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Ohio History Connection! This grant allows us to digitize copies of The Exponent, the sole newspaper for Chagrin Falls and vicinity. The Ohio History Fund grant will cover the newspaper issues in our collection from 1874-1883. The digitized Exponent will be available online to researchers on the Ohio Memory website.
“The Exponent is one of the many vital primary sources that we have in our collection. By digitizing the newspaper, we are giving people the opportunity from anywhere in the world to learn about life in the Chagrin Valley in the late 1800’s. I am incredibly proud of our team for working hard on this grant.” Ruth Zeager, Executive Director, Chagrin Falls Historical Society & Museum.
This project was made possible in part by an Ohio History Fund grant. A grant program by the Ohio History Connection, the Ohio History Fund supports local history organizations all over the state and is funded entirely through Ohio taxpayers’ voluntary contributions. You can learn more about the program at ohiohistory.org/historyfund.
Ohio History Fund
The Ohio History Fund creates grants to support local history projects in communities throughout Ohio. It’s funded by Ohio taxpayers that select “Ohio History Fund” as a donation fund on their state tax returns. For just a $9 donation, you can help repair a roof on a historic home, expand a popular history tour at a local museum, preserve the stories of Ohio veterans or provide public access to rare museum collections.
